But sometimes, you may get an error message when you try to withdraw some money from your bank account saying, “your bank is unable to process payments made using UPI right now.” This means that your bank might not have processed the transaction successfully.

For that transaction to be successful, it must be approved by a teller before it can go through and confirmed by the customer who bought something using the UPI payment method. If you recently received the error “your bank is unable to process payments made using UPI right now” on your UPI app, this may be due to a recent change by the Reserve Bank of India. The new rule requires banks to discourage the use of ‘UPI’ through a limited withdrawal amount. Follow are the reasons why this error occurs while making the payment:

  1. Your bank may have disabled the UPI feature because they are not yet ready to accommodate the large volume of transactions.
  2. Another reason could be that your bank is working on upgrading its infrastructure, and once done, you will be able to use this feature again.
  3. Your account is in debt or overdraft or insufficient funds to cover the payment amount.
  4. Your bank has a fraud alert on your account and cannot approve any UPI transaction received from you until you contact them for clarification and remove the fraud alert from your account.
  5. Your bank blocked the payment temporarily because it was submitted to the bank account as a pending UPI transaction.
